The template synthesis and characterization of the new macrocyclic Schiff base complexes of scandium(III) and yttrium(III) ions

Description
The template reaction of 2,6-diacetylpyridine with 3,3'-diaminodipropylamine in the presence of scandium(III) chloride and perchlorate produces the 14-membered. N4 macrocyclic complexes as a result of [1+1] Schiff base cyclo condensation. Under the same reaction conditions yttrium(III) nitrate template agent generates the 28-membered N8 [2+2] cyclo-condensation product. The complexes have been characterized by IR, UV-vis and 1H NMR data, in addition to elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. (author). 24 refs
