Carbon nanotubes synthesis on precipitates from mining waste water

Description

In this study, we demonstrate the synthesis of carbon nanotubes on mining waste precipitates. Iron shavings made of zero-valent iron are used to treat water flowing from abandoned mining site. Surface of shavings is covered by precipitate coating consisting mainly of As, Sb, Mn, Ni and Fe compounds. We used these coating as a substrate to CNTs synthesis. Precipitate was deposited on silicon plate. HF CVD synthesis was performed to study catalytic properties of substrate. After synthesis dense network on surface of sample was observed proving high catalytic potential of studied material. (authors)
