Ozone concentration study using 10 MeV electron beam accelerator

  • 1. Industrial Accelerators Division, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)

Description

Ozone is a toxic gas and produced in any electron beam radiation processing facility on interaction of electron beam with air. The ozone concentration depends on various parameters such as electron beam power, air path length and the air volume. Using the 10 MeV electron linac at RRCAT, we have conducted experiments to study the ozone concentration produced inside a closed SS chamber as a function of above parameters. The results shows that the concentration of ozone produced is proportional to electron beam power dissipated in air and reached to saturated concentration. The saturation time is dependent on ventilation flow rate. At fixed beam power ozone production varies with different path length and different ACPH. The results are presented in this paper.
