[en] Plasma coatings deposited from a powder of composite particles, each of an aluminium core clad with a nickel shell were investigated. The exothermic reaction of these metals in the heating zone of a spray gun results in the formation of a selfbonding nickel aluminide coating with a unique combination of properties. Particle size and the particle size distribution were evaluated by means of the microscopical and seive analyses. Characteristics of the deposits were obtained by means of the metallographic examination and bond strength. Practical applications of plasma sprayed coatings on aircraft engine is given
