AbstractAbstract
[en] Reduction of uranium tetrafluoride in the mixtures of lithium, sodium and calcium fluorides by lanthane is investigated. In the UF4-NaF systems lanthane reacts with sodium fluoride without formation of uranium. In the UF4-LiF-CaF2 systems uranium tetrafluoride reduces to metal. In these systems the metallic lithium generated in the reaction of its fluoride with lanthane was shown to be the main reason of the reduction
