AbstractAbstract
[en] Object: To separate and recover, by a solvent extraction method, americium and rare earth elements from highly radioactive waste produced during reprocessing of fuel, which is a strong nitric acid solution containing various kinds of metal ions. Structure: The method comprises the steps of separating and extracting elements such as Zr, Mo, U, Pu, etc., which are interfering elements with respect to tri-valent elements such as Am, with di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) on the side of an organic phase, coextracting americium and rare earth elements contained on the side of a water phase with a mixed organic solvent composed of D2EHPA and mono-2-ethylhexyl phosphatic copper (M2EHPA), and separating americium and rare earth elements extracted into the mixed solvent during the step of coextraction.
