AbstractAbstract
[en] Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was irradiated with electron beams (acceleration voltages of 700 to 1200 keV, beam currents of 1.3 to 4 mA). Absorption of doses of more than 103 Mrads produced homologous perfluoroalkenes and perfluoroalkanes in an inert atmosphere, whereas in the presence of oxygen perfluoro carboxylic acid fluorides were obtained in addition to carbon oxyfluorides and perfluoroalkanes. The method could be useful for reprocessing PTFE waste products. (author)
