AbstractAbstract
[en] A breakdown of Australian and World uranium reserves is presented and estimates of supply and demand during the next twenty years are given. Given favourable conditions the net economic benefits to Australia from the mining and export of uranium could be great. Although net benefits on an annual basis appear small in relation to national income aggregates, the accumulated income over twenty years could be very large. Undoubtedly, Australia is economically wealthy enough to forego the income if it wished to do so, the costs however would ultimately be largely borne in terms of smaller real wage growth and fewer opportunities for redistribution of income
