[en] The cw and FT-NMR spectra and relaxation times of dimethoxy-azoxy-benzene in the nematic and crystalline phases were measured over a wide temperature range. Conclusions concerning the hopping and tunnelling of methyl groups becoming active can be drawn from the change in the second moment vs. temperature curve as well as from spin lattice relaxation time measurements. On the basis of the FT-NMR results, a new angular distribution function of the long molecular axis can be given, in which the Meier-Saupe potential is complemented by a new term. (D.P.)
