AbstractAbstract
[en] The aim of this paper is to study the anisotropy of transition radiation TR which is electromagnetic radiation caused by the motion of a charge through an inhomogeneous medium, in this case through a plasma. The anisotropy is conditioned both by the motion of a relative charge and by the resonance properties of the plasma layer in which the dielectric constant becomes zero. Charge TR in a homogeneous non-stationary cold plasma whose density changes slowly in time is considered. An exact solution to the problem is obtained; its analysis shows a sharp anisotropy of the radiation angular distribution (AD). Radiation AD increases with growing characteristic time tau of the change of plasma density (PD); the TR intensity decreases exponentially with the tau growth. TR of a charge that moves along the gradient of weakly inhomogeneous plasma density is considered. The paper reveals the important role of the complex synchronism-point in which the condition of the Cherenkov resonance is fulfilled. The TR frequency spectrum in this case is divided into two regions:ω>ωsub(pm)(optical region) and ω<ωsub(pm). Only AD anisotropy of TR energy is possible in the optical region. The anisotropy character is similar to that described above. In the region ω<ωsub(pm) TR AD anisotropy is observed as well as the anisotropy to the direction of PD change: the intensity increases as the charge moves in the direction of PD growth and decreases exponentially in the opposite case
