AbstractAbstract
[en] The results of the thermodynamic analysis of the liquid niobium deoxidation are considered in order to find out the possibilities of removing oxygen from niobium in the process of its vacuum melting. The thermodynamic evaluations have shown that a sedimentary deoxidation of liquid niobium is not possible; the oxygen removal from the binary Nb-O melt should proceed mainly in the form on NbO; when introducing deoxidizers into niobium oxygen should be removed from the liquid metal in the form of suboxides; carbon proved to be the strongest deoxidizer
