[en] Highly praised as a sensation on the one hand, labeled as a dubious technique on the other hand, a development of cooling towers by M.A.N. (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nuernberg) evoked a keen discussion in the branch of constructors and operators of cooling towers. According to M.A.N. the 'LRT-element (for Luftrohr-Trockenkuehl-Element) is supposed to produce an intensified efficiency for power plants. The cooling medium is air; thus the procedure is even more interesting for arid countries than for the Federal Republic of Germany. (orig.)
