[en] With the inclusion of self-gravitation of the cloud in the usual Bondi type of steady, spherically symmetric accretion of a gas at rest at infinity, on to a gravitating object, it is found that the critical accretion rate can be enhanced considerably, the enhancement being dependent on the value of an additional parameter: the self-gravitational parameter.
