AbstractAbstract
[en] The propagation of Alfven waves in an anisotropic inhomogeneous plasma is studied. The coefficients of reflection and propagatim Alfven waves at a contact discontinuity are obtained, and the dependence of reflection and refraction laws on the degree of plasma pressure anisotropy is determined. Pressure anisotropy is shown to significantly affect the changing amplitude of Alfven waves in a weakly inhomogene-ous medium, if the gas-kinetic pressure is of the order of, or greater than, the magnetic field pressure (solar wind). The Alfven waves propagation in the isothermal atmosphere with a gravitational uniform field is considered. Using as an example the lower chromosphere of the Sun, it is shown that the amplitude of an upwardly propagating wave decreases faster, the greater is the difference between the plasma pressures across and along the magnetic field
