[en] The temperature distribution over a strip cross-section in the hot rolli process of square 12Kh18N10T steel shapes is investigated for drafts in the range from 14.0 to 19.1 % and the ratio of grip arc length to average strip thickness between 0.87 and 0.92. The temperature field has been found to be nonuniform over the cross-section. It is shown that such temperature field nonuniformity can be substantially reduced by increasing the rolling speed and decreasing the heat exchange coefficients at contact surfaces
