AbstractAbstract
[en] The X-ray diffraction analysis of the alloys in ZrPd3-ZrRh3 system has led to the detection of five close packed transition phases with eight, nine, twelve, seven and ten layers parallel to the hexagonal basal plane. Alloy Zr25Pd70Rh5 quenched from 12000C contained the phases : LI2 phase with a=3.926A and an eight layer h.c.p. phase with a=5.609A, c=18.584A. Alloy ZrRhPd2 quenched from 10000C contained the phases : LI2 phase with a=3.926A and a nine layer h.c.p. phase with a=5.586A, c=18.894A. Alloy ZrRhPd2 quenched from 12000C contained the phases LI2 phase with a=3.926A and a twelve layer h.c.p. phase with a=5.583A, c=27.123A. Alloy ZrPdRh2 quenched from 10000C contained the phases: LI2 phase (traces) and a seven layer h.c.p. phase with a=5.597A, c=14.697A. Alloy ZrPdRh2 quenched from 12000C contained the phases : LI2 (Traces) and a ten layer h.c.p. phase with a=5.623A, c=21.379A. The stability of the phases has been discussed in terms of size factor and electronic factors. No similar phases were found in the homologous system ZrPd3-ZrIr3. (author)
