AbstractAbstract
[en] Critical heat flux (CHF) has been investigated in electrically heated rod bundles conducted at low pressure (200kPa) and high pressure (15.2 MPa). The low pressure study recorded CHF mechanisms on high speed color movies. CHR was found to occur primarily in the gap between rods. The high pressure studies determined time to CHF during ''blowdown'' at PWR conditions with two 25 rod bundles. The tests show that thermocouples attached to the rod surface do not significantly affect time-to-CHF during blowdown. (author)
