AbstractAbstract
[en] The subject of this invention is a collimator for neutron beams from a nuclear reactor which eliminates the γ flux simultaneously emitted by this reactor. In direct method neutron radiography facilities, it makes it possible to shape a beam of neutrons coming from the reactor. Fabricated in the shape of a unit structure easy to handle, it is placed in one of the ducts passing through the biological shield of the reactor. In this way it is more easily accessible during reactor shutdowns and the work required for servicing, changing or modifying it is facilitated, all the more so because its structure is less irradiated too. It includes a system for the remote adjusting of its diaphragm opening diameter. Further, its shape and dimensions are designed to suit the standard dimensions of the biological protection penetrations of the reactor. Starting with the end near the maximum neutron flux it includes in succession a cylindrical body having through its entire length a central space shaped as a truncated cone of which the greatest cross section is located near the maximum neutron flux, and a diaphragm in a composite neutron absorbing material with several circular holes of various different diameters and fitted with the means to position it so as to bring one of the holes selectively in line with the centre of the central space in question

La presente invention a pour objet un collimateur pour faisceau de neutrons issus d'un reacteur nucleaire qui assure l'elimination du flux γ emis simultanement par ce reacteur. Dans les installations de neutrographie par methode directe, il permet de mettre en forme un faisceau de neutrons issus du reacteur. Realise sous la forme d'une structure unitaire facilement manipulable, il prend place dans l'un des canaux traversant la protection biologique du reacteur. Il est ainsi plus accessible pendant les arrets du reacteur et les interventions necessaires pour son entretien, son changement ou sa modification se trouvent facilitees, d'autant plus que sa structure est aussi moins irradiee. Il comporte un moyen de reglage a distance du diametre d'ouverture de son diaphragme. De plus, sa forme et ses dimensions sont adaptees aux dimensions standards des traversees de la protection biologique du reacteur. Il comprend successivement depuis son extremite situee au maximum du flux de neutrons, un corps cylindrique presentant sur toute sa longueur un evidement axial en forme de tronc de cone dont la section la plus grande est situee au maximum du flux de neutrons, et un diaphragme en materiau composite absorbeur de neutrons perce de plusieurs ouvertures circulaires de diametre different et muni d'un moyen permettant de le positionner de facon a amener selectivement l'une de ses ouvertures dans l'axe dudit evidementOriginal Title
