[en] Satellite measurements of the differential energy spectra obtained for the abundant even-Z nuclei from C to Fe had the form E/sup -2.3plus-or-minus0.2/ over the kinetic energy range 20< or approx. =E< or approx. =400 MeV nucleon-1 for the solar flare of 1977 September 24. The enhancement of even-Z abundances of C-Zn relative to their solar-system abundances increased monotonically with Z so that Fe/O=1.0. All enhancements were independent of energy from 20 to 300 MeV nucleon-1. Anomalously high abundances of the odd-Z nuclei B, F, Na, and Al, and the sub-iron group Ti--Cr, are accounted for by spallation of the high energy, even-Z nuclei in the solar atmosphere
