AbstractAbstract
[en] The detection of the highest energy cosmic rays in air showers is discussed. The detector arrays, and shower structure including particle number and type variations, arrival directions, shower trajectory, and longtitudinal development are considered. Various types of detectors particularly the Fly Eye are described. Also the signature of such a shower, namely a fireball moving in a straight line at the speed of light is noted. Various theories and proposed experiments are pointed out
