[en] This report covers the intermediate energy research activity of the University of Houston group during the contract year December 1, 1977 to November 30, 1978. During this period, experiments have been undertaken at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF), Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), and Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). New experiments have been approved and others completed and published. At the present time approximately one half of the research effort of this group is expended in kaon-nucleus problems involving the spectroscopy of hypernuclei and the elastic and inelastic scattering of kaons. The remaining half of the research effort is devoted to the determination of the elastic and inelastic amplitudes in nucleon-nucleon scattering at intermediate energies. The latter activity is interesting due to the strong spin dependence and possible dibaryon resonances that are observed. A list of publications is included
