[en] The molecule SF6 is treated as a classical dynamical system obeying Newton's laws of motion. This report describes how the current SF6 potential is determined. The initial approach is described in terms of a pair of Lennard--Jones potential functions with arbitrary coefficients. A method for determining the potential constants is developed. The SF6 spectrum was reproduced by including three-body forces. By specifying certain parameters such as the 1/r6 F-F constant and the total dissociation energy of the molecule, a satisfactory global potential was obtained. The laser-molecule interaction energy was developed
