AbstractAbstract
[en] The status of PETRA (positron electron tandem ring accelerator) with the designed energy of 19 GeV in each beam and beam luminosity of 1032 cm-2s-1 is presented. PETRA complex includes DESY synchrotron as preaccelerator and injector, the two linear accelerators as sources for electrons and positrons, and the DORIS storage ring. PETRA has six large experimental halls. All magnets are manufactured from laminated steel. Magnet performance testing showed good agreement with calculations. The PETRA storage ring employs 64 five-cell resonator units with an overall length of 96 m. The PETRA vacuum systems are made of extruded aluminium profile. The positron injection system has been installed and tested and 109 particles per bunch was possible to get. Control is accomplished through a specially developed serial data acquisition and control system SEDAC. Vacuum power supplies, correction magnet power supplies, beam monitor electronics are arranged outside the tunnel. It is expected that PETRA will have first stored beams in the fall of 1978
