AbstractAbstract
[en] The probabilities of obtaining particular negative-charge states nsub(e) (equivalent to number of attached electrons equivalent to Z1-q) were plotted vs. the average negative-charge nsub(e)(mean)(equivalent toZ1-q(mean)) of the projectile after the target. This choice of variables for the plot cancels out most of the dependence on the projectile and on the bombarding energy and most of the density effects. Thus it enables a systematic study of the distribution of the negative-charge states around the average negative-charge for different ion species, different bombarding energies and different gas and solid targets. The plot is not a universal function but it does exhibit many features common to the charge states and enables certain predictions to be made. (Auth.)
