[en] The shape of crystallization front during crucibleless electron-beam zone melting of β-boron is studied by microscopy and autoradiography methods. The crystallization front has a complex wave-like shape associated with specific features of β-boron crystal growth. In rod-like samples with diameter more than 3 mm a single-crystal core and polycrystalline periphery are observed
