AbstractAbstract
[en] Thermal-convection loops have provided information on corrosion rates of 300-series stainless steels in flowing lithium at temperatures between 500 and 6500C. The corrosion rate of type 316 stainless steel in 3000-hr tests increased with temperature in accordance with an Arrhenius relation. Addition of 5% Al to the lithium strongly inhibited the mass transport of iron, chromium, and nickel at 6000C
