AbstractAbstract
[en] The internal helical mode stability in a circular-section axisymmetric tokamak containing high-pressure plasma is investigated. The effect of magnetic well deepening due to magnetic axis curvature and ballon effects which are typical only of a nonuniform longitudinal magnetic field on the internal helical mode stability is considered.It is shown that this mode is actually a hybride of two-flute and current- instabilities. It has been found that internal helical mode (m=1) instability can disappear when βsub(I)>1 . Stabilization is due to magnetic well deepening in a manner similar to the case of small-scale flute instabilities
