AbstractAbstract
[en] The design of inductive superconducting storages with a monolithic winding at an energy of 10, 30, 80, 200, and 230 kJ with liquid-helium cooling is described, and the results of their investigation are presented. The windings are made of a superconducting transposed seven-strand cable consisting of six composite and one copper conductors, the last being in the centre of the cable. The cable is impregnated with indium and insulted with cotton braiding. The composite conductors had a copper matrix and niobium-titanium superconducting filaments. The diameter of the composite conductors for different storages varied from 0.5 to 1 mm; the diameter of the superconducting filaments was 60-120 μm. After 5-6 switchings, a current close to the calculated one was attained in all the storages. The maximum rate of field increase during the charging of the storages was several hundredths of T/s without transition to the normal state. The described storages may be used in developing thermonuclear theta pinches
