AbstractAbstract
[en] A study is made of the effect of the gama radiation dose and of particle size of succinic acid (fine powder of large crystals) in relation with the formation of CO2 and CO + H2, which are the main gaseous products of radiolysis. A different yield of CO + H2 is found when the succinic acid is used as powder compared to the material in the form of large crystals. The reason for this difference is searched, studying the influence of heating and sublimation of the succinic acid prior to irradiation. The influence, in the mentioned yield, of the surface area of succinic acid particles, of the presence of oxygen (air) and of the rapid recrystallization of the acid are also studied. The formation of intermediate species in the radiolysis of succinic acid is examined. The system used in ethanol-succinic acid at 77K. Analysis are made using an electronic paramagnetic resonance spectrometer. The possibility of using succinic acid as a dosimeter for high level gama radiation doses is discussed

Estuda-se o efeito da dose de radiacao gama e do tamanho das particulas de acido succinico (po fino ou cristais de tamanho grande), relativamente a formacao de CO2 e de CO + H2, principais produtos gasosos da radiolise. Verifica-se uma diferenca no rendimento de CO + H2 quando o acido succinico se apresenta na forma de po ou de cristais maiores. Fazem-se estudos no sentido de verificar as causas dessa diferenca, examinando-se para isso, a influencia do aquecimento e da sublimacao do acido succinico, previamente a irradiacao, no rendimento de CO + H2. Fazem-se tambem estudos, para a mesma finalidade, sobre a influencia naquele rendimento, da area superficial das particulas do acido succinico, da presenca de oxigenio (ar) e de recristalizacao rapida do acido succinico. Examina-se a formacao de especies intermediarias na radiolise do acido succinico, trabalhando-se com o sistema etanol-acido succinico a 77C. As analises sao realizadas utilizando-se um espectrometro de ressonancia paramagnetica eletronica.
