AbstractAbstract
[en] The evaluation of nuclear centres in 20 countries which have market for nuclear power can be divided into 3 periods: 1. Development phase 1950-1965. 2. Emergence of the light-water power reactor as leader 1965-1973. 3. Energy crisis coincides with the maturity of nuclear technology 1973-. A possible set of criteria for the choice of a research program might be: 1. Planning, purchasing, building and operating a proven nuclear power station represents the horizontal type of technology transfer which in the next decade or two cannot by itself be sufficient reason to start important reactor physics and engineering laboratories. 2. Some developing countries might wish to achieve an independence in various stages of the fuel cycle. Again they don't need to set up scientific research laboratories. 3. The technology that is most sensitive to research breakthrough in the fuel cycle is enrichment which its improvement and reduction of energy consumption would widen the very narrow circle of countries that possess enrichment facilities. This challenging field is neither cheap nor easy. 4. The nuclear power stations require permanent radiation protection. 5. For horizontal technological transfer research in some broader and more fundamental fields would be convenient
