AbstractAbstract
[en] A new parametric instability of the resonant decay type is found in an inhomogeneous plasma, in the case of a finite wavelength low frequency electrostatic pump which propagates along the equilibrium magnetic field. It involves ion acoustic and low frequency drift waves. The effect of this instability on cross-field diffusion is briefly discussed in relation with r.f. heating experiments in Stellarators and Tokamaks
