[en] The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of male and female mice Balb c/Han was measured by a total plasma slope clearance of ⁵¹Cr-EDTA after a single shot injection and by the determination of the concentration of five blood samples 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes post injectionem. The ⁵¹Cr-EDTA-clearance agrees with the values for ¹⁴C-inulin (p < 0.01) if both substances are measured simultaneously in the same animal. Female mice of the inbred strain Balb c/Han show a 19% lower (p < 0.05) GFR in comparison with the males. The average space for ⁵¹Cr-EDTA in both sexes was about 35% of the body weight. Between 40 and 210 days of age no age differences of GFR can be found in mice. (author)
