[en] A review is given of the physical principles which underlie the dynamical equilibrium and stability of a composite system of gas, magnetic field, and cosmic rays. Of particular concern are those aspects which control the radiation of magnetic field and cosmic rays, and thus influence the morphology of galaxies as seen in nonthermal radio emission. (C.F.)
