AbstractAbstract
[en] A summary is given of previous talks on the grand unified models. The problems associated with the advantageous reduction of the number of coupling constants and a single gauge generating all interactions as well as proton stability are described. It is concluded that the grand unifying schemes are quite attractive, and proton decay a very likely consequence. Limits on this lifetime are welcome, although the precise rate of decay is difficult to predict. 16 references
