AbstractAbstract
[en] The objective of this work is to assess the expected chemical compatibility of various coolant, structural and breeder combinations. Several different candidate structural materials are rated as to their compatibility with different candidate coolants. It is noted that the use of solid breeders such as Li7Pb2 or Li2O demands that they be clad if they are to be used with either water or hitech salt. Tritium inventories have been calculated for different coolant--breeder combinations. Molten salt extraction from a liquid lithium breeder should result in concentrations of 1 wppM or in total blanket inventories of 0.1 to 1.0 kg. Inventory levels of approx. 1 kg of tritium are extimated for either solid breeder, Li2O or Li7Pb2
