AbstractAbstract
[en] The work gives an introduction into the Fe-Ti and FeTi-H phase diagrams. Section 2 covers the preparation of FeTi alloys for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and metallography. Also, new hydriding techniques are described which allow charging of thinned samples without serious cracking and oxidation. Section 3 describes TEM results obtained with samples before hydriding. The hydride morphologies and structures are presented in Section 4. A new FeTi-H phase diagram is also proposed. A few metallographic results are included in Section 5. It is generally shown that TEM techniques may be applied with benefit to the study of such important hydride-forming alloys. (orig.)
