AbstractAbstract
[en] Cold-pressed samples of CaF2 + KBr and CaSO4:Dy + KBr have been used in the thermal neutron detection by the thermoluminescence technique. The amount of 100 mg of the TL phosphor added to 80 mg of KBr showed to be the optimum mixture regarding sensitivity as well as the handling of the dosimeters. The detection is based on the self-irradiation of the phosphor by the Br isotopes activated by exposure to a neutron-gama field. The prompt dose and consequentely the gama contribution are erased by post-irradiation thermal annealing. A linear dependence has been found between the TL self-induced signal and the thermal neutron flux in the range 106n.cm-2.seg-1-10-12n.cm-2.seg-1. The minimum detectable fluence has benn determined as 109n.cm-2 and 106n.cm-2 using pellets of CaF2 + KBr and CaSO4:Dy + KBr, respectively. The main results suggest the use of CaSO4:Dy + KBr pellets and TL as a complementary technique for thermal neutron detection. (author)

Amostras compactadas de CaF2nat + KBr e CaSO4:Dy + KBr foram usadas na deteccao de neutrons termicos pelo metodo de termoluminescencia (TL). A quantidade de 100 mg da substancia TL adicionada a 80 mg de KBr demonstra ser a mistura otima com respeito a sensibilidade bem como a manipulacao dos dosimetros. A deteccao e baseada na auto-irradiacao da substancia fosforescente pelos isotopos do Br ativados pela exposicao a um campo neutron-gama. A dose instantanea e, consequentemnte, a contribuicao de gama e eliminada por adequado tratamento termico pos-irradiacao. Foi encontrada uma dependencia linear entre o sinal TL auto-induzido e o fluxo de neutrons termicos na faixa 106m. cm-2.seg-1 - 1012n.cm-2.seg-1. A fluencia minima detectavel e de 109n.cm-2 e 106n.cm-2 usando discos de CaF2 + KBr e CaSO4:Dy + KBr, respectivamente. (F.E.)Original Title
