AbstractAbstract
[en] Brief reports of working group discussions. These covered the requirements for a divertor in a fusion reactor including reducing impurities, exhausting the plasma and controlling the plasma-wall interactions. Divertor configurations were also reviewed and their merits and disadvantages compared. Existing divertor experiments were summarised and recommendations for further work made. Then the problems anticipated in designing a divertor for a conceptual reactor were considered. The physics of divertors and the scrape-off layer was discussed with reference to present models of plasma in divertors. Finally, experiments needed to demonstrate the feasibility of divertors for reactors and the development of specialised diagnostics for such experiments were considered. (U.K.)
