AbstractAbstract
[en] The production reactions pC→nπ+C and pC→pπ+π-C have been studied at 19GeV/c in the CERN 'Gargamelle' bubble chamber, for low transverses momenta of the recoiling target. Both channels exhibit coherent peaks in the distributions of transferred momentum. The mass spectra of the coherently produced events show enhancements at 1.25GeV/c in the nπ+ channel and at 1.41 and 1.67GeV/c in the pπ+π- channel. The comparison of the values obtained for the branching ratios of these enhancements into nπ+ and pπ+π- with those measured in formation experiments demonstrates that the production of N* resonances does not contribute in a dominant way to these enhancements. The precision required for this analysis was obtained through a detailed study of the parameters of the bubble chamber's optics and, in particular, by taking into account the variation of these parameters from one expansion of the chamber to the other

A l'aide de la chambre a bulles Gargamelle du CERN, les reactions de production pC→nπ+C et pC→pπ+π-C par des protons de 19GeV/c sont etudiees dans la region des tres petits reculs transverses de la cible. L'existence de pics coherents est demontree pour chacun des deux canaux, dans les distributions de transfert. Dans les evenements coherents, des pics dans les spectres de masses a 1.25GeV/c2 en nπ+ et a 1.41 et 1.67GeV/c2 en pπ+π-, sont mis en evidence. La comparaison des valeurs obtenues pour les rapports de branchement de ces pics en pπ+π- et nπ+ avec celles mesurees dans les experiences de formation montre que la production de resonance N* ne contribue pas de facon dominante a la population de ces pics. La precision necessaire a cette analyse a ete obtenue grace a une etude tres detaillee des parametres de l'optique de la chambre, et, en particulier grace a la prise en compte de leurs variations d'une detente de la chambre a l'autreOriginal Title
