AbstractAbstract
[en] The energy dependence of neutron detection efficiency of the 0.95 cm thick NE-912 lithium glass scintillator has been measured by time of flight method with IPPE pulsed Van de Graaff accelerator, using the efficiency of a 0.835 mm thin NE-908 6Li glass detector as a standard. The measurements have been carried out for two different types of mounting of the glass detector: I: the glass has been suspended perpendicular to the PM photocatode plane, II: the glass has been coupled directly to the photomultiplier. The energy ranges of the measurements in the mounting schemes I and II were 25 keV< Esub(n)<2 MeV and 25 keV< Esub(n)<1.2 MeV respectively. For the determination of the absolute efficiency the transmission of the thin glass detector in the resonance region has been measured. The measured efficiency curve showed the marked effect of the oxygen resonance at 442 keV. In addition it was found that in mounting scheme II also the photomultiplier window glass has an important influence on the neutron detection efficiency. (author)
