AbstractAbstract
[en] In terms of unit capacity of spent fuel reprocessing plants and timing of their introduction, the problem of optimizing the fuel reprocessing industry has been investigated for the given growth rates of nuclear electricity generating capacities and with a special reference to Poland. The summary of two approaches to solve the problem is presented. The first one utilizes the Bellman dynamic programming method and determines the optimal timing scheme of putting reprocessing plants into operation with an account of a possibility for a part of the spent fuel to be reprocessed abroad. The second approach utilized the static optimization method. It is pointed out that partial reprocessing of spent fuel abroad may save a significant part of the total reprocessing costs especially for small economics like Poland
