AbstractAbstract
[en] A pair of large superconducting magnets will be installed in the Mirror Fusion Test Facility (MFTF), which is to begin operation in 1981. To ensure a stable superconducting state for the niobium-titanium (Nb-Ti) conductor, special consideration has been given to certain aspects of the magnet system design. These include the conductor, joints, coil assembly, vapor plenums, liquid-helium (LHe) supply system, and current leads. Heat transfer is the main consideration; i.e., the helium quality and temperature are limited so that the superconductor will perform satisfactorily in the magnet environment
