[en] This report is Volume 6 of a seven volume document on nuclear waste repository design issues. This report discusses the excavation technology to be used for a nuclear waste facility in a deep geologic formation. Particular emphasis is placed on the requirement to minimize the disturbance to the depository rock. This can reduce the probability of radionuclide migration through the rock surrounding the excavation. An information base is provided to assist in the evaluation of mining methods. A methodology is presented which can be used to determine performance requirements for excavation techniques
