[en] This report provides the NRC staff positions regarding selected areas of environmental qualification of safety-related electrical equipment in the resolution of Generic Technical Activity A-24, Qualification of Class 1E Safety-Related Equipment. The positions herein are applicable to plants that are or will be in the construction permit (CP) or operating license (OL) review process and that are required to satisfy the requirements set forth in either the 1971 or the 1974 version of IEEE Standard 323. These positions were developed prior to the Three Mile Island Unit 2 event. Any recommendations resulting from the staff's review of that event will be provided later. The seismic qualification requirements are addressed elsewhere and are not included in the scope of this document
