[en] A 'unidisc hand-operated press' has been modified for in-cave cutting of 3 mm diameter discs, destined for examination in the transmission electron microscope. No equivalent facility is available commercially. The modified punch is mechanically stable, compact in size for posting and easy to use since sample punching is controlled from a hand pump outside the cave. Discs may be cut from tested and untested strip tensile samples. The specially built sample locating jig may be interchanged to accept other sample geometries. (author)
