[en] Mains (50 Hz) pickup in SQUID magnetometers used for biomagnetic measurements on the human body is a well known problem, particularly when the SQUID is used in an unshielded environment. A simple phase-sensitive detector system which will suppress this undesirable 50 Hz signal by up to 45 dB, depending on the level of the 50 Hz signal, is described. (U.K.)
