AbstractAbstract
[en] Breeder reactors are being developed in France, the U.K., U.S.S.R., Japan, West Germany, and India as well as the U.S. because only breeders, which produce more fuel than they consume, can utilize the world's virtually inexhaustible supply of uranium and thorium. All of these national programs are developing Liquid Metal Fast Breeder Reactors (LMFBRs) which are cooled with liquid sodium and fueled with mixed uranium plutonium oxide. Progress, problems, and activity in each of these programs are briefly reviewed
