AbstractAbstract
[en] Beagle dogs and Syrian hamsters were exposed by inhalation to monodisperse aerosols of 238PuO2. Fragmentation of particles in lung was observed autoradiographically in both species. A simple mathematical model fitted to the fragmentation and lung retention data for dogs suggested that fragmentation caused 33% of the clearance of these particles up to 730 days after exposure
