[en] Process for separating the 12C and 13C isotopes of carbon, mainly for the production of 13C, in which use is made of the selective multiphotonic dissociation action of an infrared power laser on a polyhalogenated by-product of hydrocarbons, particularly methane, in a low pressure reaction vessel, whereby the dissociation is carried out in the presence of a metal capable of trapping this halogen at ordinary temperature (Ag, Cu, Cd, U, etc.) so as to improve the separation efficiency whilst preventing the production of secondary harmful reactions due to the released halogen

Procede de separation des isotopes 12C et 13C du carbone, en vue principalement de la production de 13C, dans lequel on utilise l'action de dissociiation multiphotonique selective d'un laser infrarouge de puissance sur un derive polyhalogene d'hydrocarbures, notamment du methane, dans une enceinte de reaction a pression reduite, caracterise en ce que pour ameliorer le rendement de la separation en empechant la production de reactions secondaires nuisibles dues a l'halogene libere, on opere la dissociation en presence d'un metal susceptible de pieger cet halogene a la temperature ordinaire (Ag, Cu, Cd, U...)Original Title
