AbstractAbstract
[en] The charge state dependence of K and L x-ray emission has been studied for 1.4 MeV/N Xesup(q+) (24 <= q <= 33) collisions with Ar, Kr and Xe gas targets. An increase in x-ray yield is observed for q > 26. Dynamic couplings between molecular orbitals in the transiently formed quasimolecule are found to be responsible for this increase. Parameters characterising these couplings are estimated. The observed pressure dependence of K and L x-ray emission is found to be due to charge state changing effects. (author)
